Dear Friend,

As a member of the SVSU Board of Control, I’m proud to serve with others to cultivate a community of enthusiastic and loyal donors who contribute to the development of a premier university of outstanding students.

The SVSU Foundation helps individuals and organizations make a far-reaching and long-lasting difference by partnering with them to develop scholarships and programs that help students earn their degree and prepare for success following graduation. SVSU alumni are enriching their communities in Michigan, throughout the U.S. and in 40 countries around the world. For many of those students, a college education would have been out of reach if not for private support provided by generous donors who understand the value of education.

Today, more than ever, post-secondary education is necessary for economic security. Unfortunately, paying for college has become more challenging. In fact, state appropriations to SVSU have declined steadily over the last 35 years and now account for just 23% of the university’s general fund. As a result, students and their families must assume a much greater share of college costs.

That’s why private support is so important to SVSU students.

As a member of the Board of Control and a supporter of SVSU, I encourage you to visit campus, learn about the exciting opportunities SVSU offers students, and consider making a gift to SVSU.
