College of Business and Management

My grandparents had a huge influence on me. In fact, I came to SVSU, in part, so I could be close to them. And I chose business as my major because of my family’s business in Maryland; my grandfather was the first man to have a 24-hour gospel radio station on the Eastern Shore.

Not long after I started at SVSU, my grandmother passed away. I was struggling with her loss, but I was determined to do my best.

I chose SVSU because of its size, its atmosphere and its programs. That was the best decision I’ve made in my life. Thanks to the opportunities SVSU has provided, I’ve grown as a person and as a leader. I can visit my 94-year-old grandfather and tell him that I am experiencing things he has dreamed of!

There are so many students like me, who are seizing every opportunity to better themselves so they can better the world. Scholarship support brings many of those opportunities within reach.

I’m George Copeland. I’m preparing to be a leader. And I want you to know, every gift counts.
